America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, driven by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), proudly welcomes five new members:

Full Members

MIT Lincoln Lab-The Lincoln Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a federally funded research and development center that applies advanced technology to problems of national security. Research and development activities focus on long-term technology development, as well as rapid system prototyping and demonstration. These efforts are aligned within key mission areas. The Laboratory works with industry to transition new concepts and technology for system development and deployment.

Zimmer, Inc.-Zimmer is a worldwide leader in musculoskeletal health care and has been since its founding more than 80 years ago. Today, its global team of more than 8,500 employees works to provide effective, creative solutions that support orthopedic surgeons and clinicians to restore mobility and treat arthritis and traumatic injuries. Its joint replacement technologies and a wide range of related products and services makes Zimmer a valuable partner to health care providers in more than 100 countries.

Lorain County Community College-Lorain County Community College, an innovative leader in education, economic, community, and cultural development, serves as a regional catalyst for change in a global environment through accessible and affordable academic and career-oriented education, lifelong learning, and community partnerships.

Texas A&M University-The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in Texas A&M University’s Dwight Look College of Engineering has consistently been ranked in the top 10 departments in the United States over the past 10 years by the Gourman Report, the National Research Council, and U.S. News and World Report. The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering has strong programs in manufacturing and production systems, logistics and supply chain management, operations research, applied probability and statistics, systems engineering, quality and reliability, and system simulation especially important in the current environment of international trade and global competition.

University of California, Irvine-The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine educates more than 4,000 engineers each year with an integrative approach that blends fundamentals, research and hands-on experience. The school includes five academic departments: biomedical engineering; chemical engineering and materials science; civil and environmental engineering; electrical engineering and computer science; and mechanical and aerospace engineering. Current research thrusts include communications and information technology; engineering for human health; energy and sustainability; advanced manufacturing and materials.
