Artec 3D, a leading developer and manufacturer of professional 3D software and hardware, announced a new product bundle that will equip customers with a full suite of the latest in reverse engineering hardware and leading design/inspection software from 3D Systems. The promotion, running worldwide through Spring 2016, offers a streamlined solution from 3D scan to CAD, providing users with Artec’s Eva or recently-released Space Spider scanner in addition to 3D Systems’ Geomagic Design X platform and a one year subscription to Artec Studio 10.
The tools made available through this joint offering should improve the reverse engineering process that begins with scans created using handheld scanners. The Artec Eva and Space Spider capture objects of varying sizes and degrees of complexity in high resolution and color, making them the tools of choice for scanning a range of items, especially those with sharp edges or small parts that may be difficult to recreate any other way.
“No 3D scanner, no matter how proficient, can stand alone,” said Artyom Yukhin, president and CEO of Artec 3D. “It requires the support of software that is equally adept to turn captured data and cloud points into a desired object, recreated or newly invented, that can one day be held in your hand.”
Once captured, the 3D scans can be processed using Artec’s Studio 10 software, which works seamlessly with Artec’s scanners. The finished model can then be exported to the Geomagic Design X platform to create feature-based, editable solid models compatible with popular MCAD platforms.
