8. Internal channels
Using conformal cooling channels and mold boxes is a growing application. You can create channels that follow the contours of the geometry, which can provide more uniform cooling and help extend tool life.
Part of creating channels and holes is knowing the size limitation. A channel larger than 8 mm or 0.3 inches will likely suffer down-facing distortion. A way around this limitation is to design channel shapes that are not circular, such as using diamond or teardrop shapes.
